Every once in a while, Elmo will welcome guests to the show who I have never heard before.

In recent memory, some of those guests have been Kwame Alexander, Myles Brown, and Nature Nick. This episode features 3 celebrities, two of which I have never heard of before.

The three guests on this weeks episode were Mykal-Michelle Harris, Jonathan Van Ness along with a musical performance from H.E.R.

Let’s dive into the tenth episode of Not Too Late Show!

With usual tradition, this weeks episode begins with Elmo helping his parents clean the dishes. He is once again excused so he can host his talk show!

For the second week in a row, Elmo has a joke for us.

What is a pirates favorite letter?

This joke is accompanied by the letter R (dressed up as a pirate) coming out to stand near Cookie Monster.

Elmo heads to his desk to talk about his nighttime routine which includes brushing his hair from his head to his toes.

While talking about routines, he wants to talk about makeovers, especially giving one to the long time Sesame Street resident, Alan.

We cut to backstage where we see Alan getting the special treatment by the hair and makeup team. But for Alan, this wasn’t enough.

Jonathan Van Ness from Queer Eye joins Alan and the makeup team backstage to help make this the best makeover possible. Elmo will check back in with them later on in the episode.

Mykal-Michelle Harris

Elmo introduces Mykal-Michelle by saying she is an actress and she is 7 years old.

Mykal-Michelle asks Elmo what it is like to be a kid AND have his own talk show. Some of Elmo’s favorite parts of being a host are being able to control when the music starts and stops, talking to the guests, telling jokes and asking questions.

Mykal-Michelle also enjoys asking questions so Elmo suggests they switch spots so she can act as the host. They proceed to do that and Cookie is already impressed by how good of a host she is.

She asks Elmo what his favorite color is as well as his favorite pizza.

For those who are wondering, Elmo’s favorite color is Red and he loves a vegetable pizza.

Mykal-Michelle loves the color Pink, and she really enjoys cheese pizza.

Cookie Monster chimed in for the pizza question by saying he loves a chocolate chip pizza, not surprising anyone.

The next question is about Elmo’s bedtime routine and how he prepares for it. To take care of his fur, Elmo brushes and shampoos it. Mykal-Michelle washes her hair and then has her mom braid it so it can be poofy when it is dried.

The random contest button comes in to end the question segment. The contest for this episode is the No Laugh Challenge. The winner of the game is to see who can go the longest without laughing.

During the challenge, both Elmo and Mykal-Michelle take to silly antics to make the other person laugh. The finishing blow is when Mykal-Michelle tickles Elmo which causes him to laugh.

Mykal-Michelle’s segment is over and it is time to check in on Alan.

Alan currently only has one alteration and that is an addition to a purple nose. Jonathan Van Ness gives him a quick fix which gives him a very large hairdo, kind of similar to a very colorful Marge Simpson hair style. Jonathan quickly reconsiders his actions and changes his hairstyle to one that completely covers his face. Alan’s makeover is not yet complete and we will get the final makeover look to close out the show later on.

I have never listened to H.E.R before and after this performance, I don’t have an urge to listen to their music like I did with Dan & Shay.

H.E.R performs a song about how she loves her hair.

Doing something that I thought was completely impossible, she somehow dethroned Jordin Sparks as my least favorite musical guest on the show.

After her performance, she gives Elmo her hairbrush and she exits the stage.

Let’s check on my new musical performances rankings!

1. Lil Nas X (Elmo’s World)

2. Jonas Brothers (Toothbrush Song)

3. Dan + Shay (I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon)

4. Kasey Musgraves (Rubber Ducky)

5. Joyous String Ensemble (Rubber Ducky, Sunny Days)

6. Sofia Carson (Mockingbird)

7. Ben Platt (C is for Cookie)

8. Pentatonix (Bedtime Story Medley)

9. Jordin Sparks (Itsy Bitsy Spider)

10. H.E.R (I Love My Hair)

I thought it couldn’t be done, but here we are, stunned to all belief.

Jonathan Van Ness

Now that we are close to the end, it is time to officially unveil the Monster Make Over for Alan.

Jonathan comes out on stage to introduce Alan who walks out in this giant, furry monster suit. Alan struts the runway while Jonathan describes the outfit.

Alan feels like a monster and he is LOVING it.

Before Jonathan exits the stage, Elmo and Cookie Monster debut their Van Ness makeovers. They come out on stage with long hair and a beard which was very cute to see.

Elmo is about to start his goodnight song but he is still in the Van Ness makeover. He goes backstage to get rid of the long hair, and then ducks down so the camera doesn’t see him and removes the beard.

He performs his goodnight song.

As Always, Elmo Loves You, You are Special.

After such a good past couple of episodes, including last weeks episode with Hoda Kotb and Ben Platt, this episode falls flat to me.

Mykal-Michelle taking over the hosting role was fun and something this show hasn’t done yet but the actual interview didn’t give us something that would make this stand out.

The musical guest I don’t even want to talk about because of how much I didn’t like it.

The bright spot of this episode was Jonathan Van Ness and he was underused. I believe he has enough of popularity to be a featured guest, and he deserves to sit on the couch. I’m hoping in the future he has a chance to sit on the couch, or Elmo welcomes the whole Queer Eye gang to the show.

This is definitely towards the bottom of my episode list in terms of how much I enjoyed it.

There are three episodes left in this season. I really hope this show can end on a strong note after having an up and down season up to this point.

So until next week, don’t forget…You are Loved, You are Special!
